Mission of the Gasparilla Distance Classic Association, Inc.
The Gasparilla Distance Classic Association, established in 1978, is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated specifically to raising funds for charitable youth organizations and running programs in the Tampa Bay area. It’s mission is carried out through the administration of the annual Publix Gasparilla Distance Classic Race Weekend and Jr. Gasparilla Distance Classic. $4.4 Million Donated To Date!
The Gasparilla Distance Classic Association takes great pride in its mission. Since the first running of the Gasparilla Distance Classic in February, 1978, $4.4 million has been donated to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa, Girls Inc. of Pinellas, The Friends of Tampa Parks & Recreation and youth running related programs.
Thank you to the City of Tampa, Publix Super Markets, Gasparilla’s event sponsors, volunteers and every one of the 635,000+ participants that since 1978, that have crossed the Finish Line!

On or before February 20, 2017, a Registration Confirmation will be sent via email to all of those who registered for the 2017 events and provided a valid email address. When received, please confirm that all information (event entered, name, address & age) is correct. Please note that bib numbers will not be assigned until the first week in February.
If an email address is not given, a confirmation can not be provided.
Refunds and/or transfers of registration are not allowed in the Publix Gasparilla Distance Classic 15K & 5K or Publix Gasparilla Half Marathon & 8K.
2017 Rules and Requirements
Registration Waiver must be signed – the waiver can be found at the bottom of registration form (if participant is under 18 years old, parent or guardian must sign the release). Age Requirements:
- Half-Marathon: At least 12 years old (18 yrs & Under Require a Parental or Guardian Signature)
- 15K: No age restrictions
- 8K: No age restrictions
- 5K: No age restrictions
Race Numbers and ChronoTrack B-Tags are required for all races. Refunds and/or transfers of registration are not allowed in the Publix Gasparilla Distance Classic 15K & 5K or the Publix Gasparilla Half Marathon & 8K. If you are unable to run the race you registered for due to medical reasons, you may downgrade to a shorter distance. There is no charge for downgrading, however, you will not receive a refund for the difference in entry fee. If you require a race change, you MUST contact the race office in writing via email by Friday, February 17, 2017.
If the request and change are made prior to Sunday, January 22, 2017, the change will be made at No Charge. From January 23 – February 17, there will be a $15 fee for making a change in registration. There will be NO changes made over Race Weekend. If you participate in a race you are NOT registered for, you will NOT be eligible for overall and age group awards. If you need to make a change in your registration, please submit a request to the GDCA office via email: [email protected]. Race registration changes will not be made over the phone.
PLEASE NOTE: From January 23 – February 17, there will be a $15 fee for making a change in registration. There will be NO changes made over Race Weekend.
