The Gasparilla Distance Classic Association, established in 1978, is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization dedicated specifically to raising funds for charitable youth organizations and running programs in the Tampa Bay area.

Come out to Tampa Bay and test your endurance at the Gasparilla Distance Classic. Every stride you make at the race benefits charitable youth organizations across the Tampa Bay area. And since 1978, the Gasparilla Distance Classic Association has donated $3.9 million to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa, Girls Inc. of Pinellas, The Friends of Tampa Parks & Recreation and youth running related programs.

There are many city parking lots and on-street parking close to the start and finish line. Expect to pay $5 or more for all-day parking with no in-and-out privileges.

RULES & REGULATIONS FOR COMPETITION
PLEASE NOTE that due to the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Marathon that will be held in Atlanta, GA on Saturday, February 29, 2020, there will be no Publix Gasparilla Half Marathon American Only Prize Purse ($30,000) in 2020. The Publix Gasparilla Half Marathon American Only Prize Purse will return onSunday, February 21, 2021.
* Prize money will only be distributed to persons who are USA Citizens and eligible to represent the United States in all levels of international competition.
** Only those runners who reside in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Polk, Hernando, Manatee & Sarasota Counties on a full-time basis (365 days a year) will be eligible to compete for the Local Prize Purse. Prize money will not be awarded until full-time residency is verified.
There will be an award ceremony after event.
US OCR & OCRWC Qualifying Event
Be early, arrive an hour before your start time. This gives you plenty of time to park, find your friends & get warmed up and ready to start your race.

There’s no dress code, but you’ll be running on downtown Tampa roads. So, dress comfortably.
Our elites recommend: performance gear (NOT COTTON), compression underwear, high socks & long sleeves.
Advice from experience: is to race in what you train in – new shoes on race day are NOT recommended.
